I’m a native Iowan and I grew up in Iowa City. Despite the usual college aged thoughts of moving to New York to be an opera singer, I’ve lived in Iowa all of my life and loved it. We’re a state of less than 3 million people. I figure I’m no more than 3 degrees of separation from anyone in the state—and I like that. It’s a connectedness that I can’t imagine anywhere else in the world.
I live in the Goosetown neighborhood in Iowa City in a charming bungalow built in 1920. It’s close to downtown, to Oakland Cemetery and the Black Angel, and to Hickory Hill Park—so in other words, it’s absolutely perfect.
I spend most of my time working with passionate people—entrepreneurs, nonprofit professionals, and volunteers. I love the company I keep. This is one of the reasons for the Passion Blog—to talk about my passions and the passions of others around me.
Mae West said, “You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.” For me, doing it right is living with passion—doing the things you love, living the life you dream, being the person you are. Hence, the Passion Blog.
